#Restaurant Review: Le Chef Masqouf, London

Le Chef Masqouf offers soul food, Iraqi style.  Located near Edgware Road in Bayswater, with another branch in Knightsbridge, Masqouf caters for the Arab community offering generous and tasty food that never fails to please.

With a basic but fulfilling menu that includes lamb, chicken, fish and vegetarian choices, Masqouf doesn't pretend to be fancy. This is home-cooked food that is big on flavor, and with very basic interiors and service, you will have little choice but to focus on the food.   

We ordered a selection of appetisers, including fatoush, hummus and potato chap, which were all very good and came with a huge fresh-baked warm bread (khubbuz) and then the kouzi (lamb shank with rice and nuts), chicken biryani, eggplant stew and Masqouf sea bass.  The rice dishes were all delicious, with very tasty saffron flavored rice and tender meat.  The sea bass was truly out of this world- grilled to perfection, presented like a feast and so well-cooked that it made you want another.   
If you are planning on ordering the rice dishes, then you would be best advised not to have appetisers or additional dishes as the portions are really generous.  Otherwise order the dishes to share so you can sample everything!
