#Restaurant Review: Med kitchen, London, England

It was a rainy night on Gloucestor Road and looking for a quick and casual bite to eat, we chose Med Kitchen.
Their menu offers a good selection, mainly of brasserie-style food.  We ordered the chicken special and fish (haddock) and chips as well as a side of fries.

Both dishes were average- the chicken came with a mustard cream sauce which was more cream than mustard, and the fish and chips were like a grown up version of fish fingers.
Good dessert menu makes it difficult to choose
For dessert, we ordered the banoffee pie, which was like a cake with a thick layer of dense cream, and the apple crumble. Both portions were very generous, and the apple crumble was to die for- the crumble was perfectly baked with the right amount of sweetness against the sourness of the apples. The portion was too large to finish but I would go again and just have that!

In terms of ambiance, don't expect much!

To be fair it was a rainy weeknight so I wouldn't have expected it to be busy, but Med Kitchen is what it is: more than a fast food place but not a posh brasserie...

The service wasn't very attentive- we had to wait a while between courses to get the waiter's attention.

A solid menu with a good selection of appetisers and mains

Fish and chips
Banoffee pie
One of the best apple crumbles I've ever had!

Dark interior and practically empty on a weeknight
Price: Our meal cost around £45 for two mains, two desserts, one side and two non-alcoholic drinks.

Contact: Med Kitchen has several branches. The Gloucestor Road (#25-35) one can be reached on 020 7589 1383
